Veneers Q&A

What are veneers?

Veneers are tooth-colored, thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of your natural teeth to make them more aesthetically pleasing and give you a boost of confidence. The process of getting veneers is fast and painless, without any downtime.

What are veneers used for?

Some of the numerous benefits associated with porcelain veneers include a whiter, brighter, more symmetrical smile and improving teeth that are:

  • Too small
  • Gapped
  • Misshapen
  • Discolored
  • Decaying
  • Weak
  • Chipped
  • Cracked
  • Worn down
  • Asymmetrical

Veneers look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. Getting them is a noninvasive procedure that produces dramatic aesthetic results and a smile you feel proud of.

Are veneers right for me?

To find out if veneers are the right dental restoration procedure for you, Dr. Rindge and his team clean your teeth, examine your mouth and gums, and take dental X-rays. They discuss your desired outcome and talk about what to expect during treatment.

To be a good candidate for the procedure, you must maintain good oral health. Dr. Rindge treats tooth decay or gum disease prior to veneer placement.

What happens during veneer placement?

Before veneer placement, Dr. Rindge prepares your teeth. He removes a small portion of enamel from the sides and front of your teeth during a painless process. He then digitally scans your mouth to create new, custom-fit veneers that fit perfectly over your natural teeth. When the veneers are ready, he permanently bonds them to your teeth.

What should I expect after the procedure?

There’s no downtime after veneer placement, so you can resume normal activities immediately. Veneers are long-lasting if you care for them properly. Avoid chewing on pencils, fingernails, ice, and other hard objects. Don’t open packages with your teeth.

Brush your teeth at least two times every day with fluoride toothpaste. Floss daily, and schedule routine dental cleanings and exams every six months or as Dr. Rindge prescribes. Call Dr. Rindge’s office at the first sign of tooth decay or damage to your veneers.

Don’t live with an imperfect smile. Schedule an appointment at the office of Mark F. Rindge, DDS, over the phone or online to find out if veneers are right for you.
